European Beech
Cumaru lumber is extremely stiff, strong, and hard, lending itself well to a variety of applications. Great substitute of the much more scarce Lignum Vitae and the heartwood fluoresces under a blacklight.

Other common names:
Brazilian Teak, Dipteryx Odorata
Sourcing Region:
Northern South America
Color, Pattern, Texture:
Cumaru tends to be a medium to dark brown, sometimes with a reddish or purplish hue. Some pieces may have streaks of yellowish or greenish brown. Grain is interlocked, with a medium texture and a waxy feel.
Common Uses and Applications:
Cumaru can be used for your interior and exterior projects; such as flooring, cabinetry, furniture, heavy construction, docks, bearing, handles, and more.
Working Properties:
Its interlocking grain and density can make working with Cumaru difficult. Pre-boring is necessary for screws and nails as the wood contains silica and will have a moderate blunting effect on tool cutters. We offer a wide selection of DeckWise tools to help you work with hardwoods such as Cumaru and others.
