Domestic plywood

The grades we offer range among the following:
• AA – A Premium face grade for exclusive uses such as architectural paneling and interiors, case goods, and quality furniture.
• A – Where AA is not required but excellent appearance is still important.
• B – Where the natural characteristics and appearance of the species are desirable.
• C – Allows for unlimited color and increased natural characteristics. Perfect for applications where an economical panel is needed.
• D and E – Provide sound surfaces but allow unlimited color variation. Allow repairs in increasing size ranges. Apply where surface will be hidden or a more rustic character is desired.

Back grade descriptions:
Back grades are designed by numbers: 1, 2, 3, and 4. Requirements of grade 1 are most restrictive, with grades 2, 3, and 4 being progressively less restrictive. Grades 1 and 2 provide sound surfaces with all openings in the veneer repaired except for vertical worm holes not larger than 1.6mm (1/6”). Grades 3 and 4 permit some open defects. Grade 3 can be obtained with repaired splits, joints, bark pockets, laps, and knot-holes to achieve a sound surface if specified by the buyer. Grade 4 permits knot-holes up to 102mm (4”) in diameter and open splits and joints limited by width and length.

CDX Plywood
We offer CDX plywood, which it comes from US voluntary plywood Standard PS1-95 for Construction and Industrial Plywood. "CDX" is not the name of a plywood grade, it stands for "C-D Exposure 1 plywood"; one side of the plywood is rated "C" grade and the other side is rated "D" grade . The letter "X" means the glue of the plywood is exterior glue. CDX plywood is not exterior plywood, because usually the core veneers for CDX plywood are not as good as exterior plywood. CDX plywood is moisture resistant but can not be exposed to water or weather for long time. CDX plywood is a kind of economical plywood and is usually sanded but not polished. So the face/back of CDX plywood is rough and some knot holes exist in the face/back. As construction and industrial plywood, CDX plywood is usually used as wall sheathing, roofing and so on.

In addition to supplying you with the high quality pattern grade lumbers, a variety of species, and more, Bennett Crone offers  you die-boards. A variety of high-grade, economical plywoods, and specialty sheet materials that are used in a wide range of applications.

Marine Grade
The standards required by APA-The Engineered Wood Association, for a product to be called “marine grade” are not that much higher than your typical exterior grade plywood.  With many options for glue, veneers, plies, and preservatives to consider, close examination of what your final project will be subjected to must be considered before deciding which plywood product to buy.All marine grade plywood will be free of voids in the core.  Voids are traps for water and will rot the product from the inside out. Weather and Boil Proof (WBP) glue must be used as well; this glue has been subjected to boiling water for more than an hour without delamination of the plies. To learn more about ‘Marine Grade’ and other plywood we offer please contact us!

We offer a variety of species:

Alder, Maple, Cherry, Walnut, Red Oak, Red Birch, White Oak, Mahogany.
